Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Barrington Hills, Illinois

St John Condos helps travelers from Barrington Hills, Illinois, plan a long-awaited island stay at a villa on St. John, rented by the week and close to the Westin St John Resort. Ask the local team anything before you book.

For many people in Barrington Hills, a trip to the Virgin Islands has been on the list for years, waiting for the right season and the right moment. When it finally comes together, it feels less like an ordinary vacation and more like a deliberate reward for patience. A villa rented by the week gives that reward room to breathe, with space to unpack properly and settle into a slower rhythm than a hotel stay usually allows. Coming from the northern Midwest, the contrast is hard to ignore. Winters in Illinois are cold and gray for much of the year, so arriving on an island with warm air and bright water can feel almost unreal at first. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, and the local team is glad to talk through which setup suits a splurge like this before anything is booked.

Planning your island trip from Barrington Hills

  1. Reaching the island. Most visitors from the Chicago area fly into St. Thomas (STT), then take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into your schedule for that final leg, since island ferries keep their own rhythm. Driving on St. John is on the left, so many guests prefer to leave the wheel to someone else for the first day.
  2. Choosing your season. Illinois winters make the islands especially appealing from the depths of February, though many travelers from Barrington Hills also pick the shoulder months when the trip feels like a clean break from the gray. Think about which weather you want to return home to, and which part of the year your work and family life can truly step away. The local team can talk through the timing that fits your plans.
  3. Planning your stay. A week or longer in a villa lets a splurge feel unhurried rather than rushed. Decide early whether you want a kitchen for quiet breakfasts, how much you want to plan each day, and whether you would like the resort nearby. Write down your priorities, then share them with St John Condos so the villa you choose matches the trip you have been imagining.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa a good fit for a special trip rather than a standard hotel stay?

Many guests from Barrington Hills choose a villa for a celebration because it offers privacy, a full kitchen, and room for everyone. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a longer splurge. St John Condos can explain what each property includes so you know exactly what you are getting before you commit.

Should I book the flight to St. Thomas before confirming my villa?

It is wise to talk with the local team first, so your travel dates line up with your villa rental. Once you have a confirmed stay, you can book your flight to St. Thomas and plan the taxi and ferry connection. Having the dates settled first keeps the rest of the journey simpler and less stressful.
