A week away with friends is a different kind of trip from a family holiday or a quiet getaway for two. Everyone wants a shared house, room to spread out, and time together that does not feel rushed. For a group from Bankston, Iowa, where winters are long and cold, a warm island week can feel like a true reset. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits a group that wants one home base rather than several hotel rooms. Planning matters more when a group is involved. Schedules, flights, and shared expenses all have to line up, and it helps to settle the basics early. The local team at St John Condos answers questions before you book, so you can sort out the details of your week together with people who know the island. There is no pressure to decide everything on the spot, and no need to figure it out alone.

Planning your week away from Bankston

1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Agree on arrival days as a group so that airport pickups and ferry crossings are easy to coordinate. Keep everyone's travel documents handy, and plan for luggage, since you will be carrying bags onto the ferry.
2. Choosing when to leave Iowa. Think about the weather back home before you pick your dates. Iowa winters are cold, so many groups from the Midwest look for a window that gives them a real break from snow and gray skies. Check with your friends about work schedules and school breaks, and pick a week that most people can manage. Once you have a shared date range, you can narrow the choices together.
3. Planning the stay together. Once you have a villa, decide early how you will handle meals, shared costs, and the daily plan. Some groups like a loose schedule with room for quiet mornings, while others prefer a plan for outings. Remember that on St. John you drive on the left, so think about who will drive and whether everyone is comfortable with that. Keep a shared list of questions to ask our team before you book.
