Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Alhambra, Illinois

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book a beach-focused trip to St. John from Alhambra, Illinois. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, and the team can talk through what fits your plans.

If your idea of a good trip starts with sand and water, a villa on St. John may suit you well. Alhambra sits in the Midwest, a long way from warm Caribbean shores, so the contrast with home is part of the appeal. Many travelers from this part of Illinois come to the islands mainly to swim, snorkel, and let the days move slowly. A beach-centered stay also means thinking about what you want each morning. Some people like a quiet stretch of sand before breakfast, while others prefer to spend the afternoon reading in the shade. Renting a villa by the week gives you room to shape those routines, and the St John Condos team can help you match the rhythm you have in mind.

Planning a beach trip from Alhambra

  1. Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which carries the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little extra room in your schedule for the transfers, since island connections are part of the experience. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road.
  2. Choosing your season. Illinois winters are cold, so many people from Alhambra look toward the islands during the colder months at home. Think about whether you want the calmest water, a quieter stretch of the year, or simply the warmest weather. Your preference for crowds, budget, and sea conditions should guide the choice, and the team can point out what each season tends to feel like.
  3. Planning the stay. Because villas are rented by the week, you can settle in and treat the beach as your daily base rather than a single outing. Think about gear, such as snorkel masks, sun protection, and a commercial autonomous floor scrubber is not something you will need, so pack for sand and salt instead. Ask the St John Condos team about what the villa provides before you arrive.
