Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Algona, Iowa

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and we can help a family from Algona, Iowa, plan a trip to the Westin St John Resort that suits three generations traveling together.

Planning a trip for three generations is a little like running a well-kept building: everything has to work for the youngest and the oldest at once. Families from Algona often bring grandparents, parents, and children together, and each group has different needs for rest, meals, and time alone. A villa rented by the week can give everyone their own space while keeping the whole group under one roof. Coming from a town in the Midwest, you may be used to planning around the seasons of Iowa winters and summers. St. John has a warm climate that most visitors find easy to enjoy, and that gives older relatives and young children a steady pace of days outdoors and indoors. The team at St John Condos can talk through what your group needs before you commit, so the trip feels like a shared plan rather than a series of compromises.

A Three-Generation Plan from Algona

  1. Reach the Islands Smoothly. Most visitors from Iowa reach St. John by flying to St. Thomas, airport code STT, and then taking a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay. Ask the team early about how to coordinate arrivals so that grandparents, parents, and children can travel with the least fuss and meet at the villa together.
  2. Choose Your Season Carefully. Think about your family first. Mild, dry weather suits older travelers and young children who tire quickly in heat, while other months may suit a group that wants more time in the water. Consider school calendars, mobility needs, and what each generation most wants from the trip, then let those answers guide when you leave Algona for the islands.
  3. Plan the Stay Together. Rent a villa by the week so everyone has space to retreat. Sketch a loose plan that includes quiet mornings, shared meals, and a few activities each generation chooses. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether a single driver or taxis will suit your group best. St John Condos can help you match the villa layout to your family's needs.

Frequently asked questions

Can a group with grandparents and young children stay comfortably in one villa?

Many three-generation groups do. A villa gives each family room to rest on its own schedule while still sharing meals and time together. Tell the St John Condos team who is coming, including any mobility needs, so they can point you toward a layout that gives everyone space and easy access.

Is it hard for people from Algona to get to St. John?

Most travelers from Iowa fly to St. Thomas, airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. It is a familiar route, and the team can help you line up connections so that everyone in your group arrives without stress and with the bags they need.
