Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Alachua, Florida
St John Condos helps travelers from Alachua plan a milestone celebration at a villa on St. John, a short ferry ride from St. Thomas, where a week-long stay can feel like a true escape. Ask us anything before you book.
Marking a milestone is a good reason to go somewhere unhurried, and St. John offers a quiet kind of celebration that many travelers from Alachua find hard to match closer to home. The island is small, the pace is slow, and a villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to gather your people without the noise of a crowded hotel floor. Many families and couples plan these trips around a birthday, an anniversary, or a retirement, and the rental format suits groups who want space of their own. Florida's warm climate may feel familiar, but the Caribbean setting brings a different rhythm, with water views, open air, and long unscheduled mornings. You can keep the celebration as simple or as full as you like, whether that means a quiet dinner on your own terrace or a few shared plans with those who came along. Because the island is so compact, the days stay easy, and the focus can stay on the people you came to honor.

Getting from Alachua to your celebration on St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Alachua fly into St. Thomas, which is the closest airport to St. John. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry departs for Cruz Bay. Plan for this connection with some margin, especially if your group is traveling with luggage, celebration decorations, or gifts for the guest of honor.
- Pick your timing carefully. Think about the season before you commit to dates. Florida visitors often find the Caribbean particularly appealing in the cooler months back home, when a warm island getaway feels like a real change of scene. Choose dates that line up with your milestone and with the schedules of everyone traveling, and check with us about availability at the Westin St John Resort villas.
- Plan the stay around the occasion. Villas are rented by the week, so consider how many days you want for the celebration itself and how many for rest. Think about who is coming, how you want to gather, and whether you plan to drive. Remember that on St. John you drive on the left, so a relaxed first day for orientation can make the rest of the trip smoother.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good fit for a group celebrating a milestone?
Often, yes. A villa gives your group shared living space, a place to cook a meal together, and privacy that a standard hotel room may not offer. Tell us how many people are coming and what kind of gathering you have in mind, and we will help you see which villa options suit that plan.
Do I need to rent a car on St. John?
Many visitors prefer to have a vehicle for getting around the island, but it is worth deciding ahead of time. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left. If you plan to rely on a car, arrange it before you arrive so the start of your celebration is not delayed.
