For a couple used to that rhythm, a week on a Caribbean island can feel like a complete change of pace. Warm water, open sky, and a slower daily pace are the reasons many couples from this part of the Midwest choose St. John. The villas at the Westin St John Resort give two people room to settle in, with space to cook, to sit outside, and to spend unhurried mornings together. St John Condos handles the booking side with care, so you can focus on each other. Ask us anything about the villa, the grounds, or what to pack before you commit.

Getting from Okoboji to St. John

  1. Reaching the island. Most visitors from the Midwest fly into St. Thomas, which is the usual gateway to St. John. From the airport you take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan your connections with your travel agent or airline, and keep your bags light enough to carry comfortably onto the ferry together.
  2. Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many couples from Okoboji choose to leave during the coldest months and enjoy the islands while the lake is still frozen at home. The Caribbean stays warm year round, so the choice comes down to crowds, budget, and what you want from the trip. Tell us your dates and we will talk through what to expect.
  3. Planning your stay. Villas at the Westin St John are rented by the week, so think about how you want your days to feel before you book. Some couples want a slow start with coffee on the deck, while others plan a few outings. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, which takes some getting used to. Let us help you match the villa to your plans.
