Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in New London, Missouri
St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort for families from New London, Missouri, and our local team can answer your questions before you book.
A family trip to St. John can feel like a big undertaking when you start from a small city in the middle of the country. New London sits in northeast Missouri, far from any ocean, so the change in scenery is part of the appeal. Most visitors reach the island by flying to St. Thomas, then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Once you arrive, the pace of island life tends to suit families well. Villas rented by the week give you room to spread out, cook a few meals, and let children settle into a routine that is slower than the one at home. Driving on St. John is on the left, so take a moment to adjust before you head out on the roads.

Planning your family trip from New London
- Getting to the islands. Start by looking at flights into St. Thomas, the airport code is STT, and plan for a taxi ride to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Build in some slack for connections, since traveling with children often means more stops, more bags, and more patience. Our team can explain how the connections typically fit together for families coming from your part of Missouri.
- Choosing when to travel. Missouri winters are cold and gray, so many families from New London find that a trip to the islands feels like a welcome break during the coldest months. Think about school calendars, work schedules, and how much warmth your group will enjoy. Consider whether you prefer a quieter stretch of the year or a season that suits your children's schedules best, and let that guide your dates.
- Planning the stay. Choose a villa that fits your group, and think about where everyone will sleep and where you will gather at the end of the day. Decide how much you want planned in advance and how much you want to leave open for swimming, reading, and simple time together. Talk through the details with our team before you book, so the week feels calm rather than rushed when you arrive.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fly into St. Thomas and take the ferry to get to St. John?
Yes, that is the route most visitors take. You fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and then ride the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Our team can walk you through what that transfer looks like with children and luggage, so you know what to expect before you leave New London.
Is a villa a good choice for a family visiting from Missouri?
