Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in New Boston, Illinois

St John Condos helps friends from New Boston, Illinois, plan a week together at a villa at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, US Virgin Islands, and the local team is glad to answer questions before you book.

A week away with friends from New Boston often starts with a simple wish: a shared place where everyone can unwind at the same pace. A villa at the Westin St John Resort gives a group room to spread out, cook together, and gather on the terrace after a day of swimming or walking. Villas are rented by the week, which suits groups that want to settle in rather than move from hotel to hotel. Because New Boston sits in the Midwest, many travelers from the area are used to cold winters and are drawn to warm Caribbean weather in the colder months. St. John keeps a tropical climate through much of the year, so the trip can feel like a complete change of season. Planning together early helps the group agree on dates, budget, and who handles the shared details.

Getting to St. John from New Boston

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Illinois fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries the group to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry runs to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan one person to track flight details for everyone so the group arrives together and no one is left waiting at the terminal.
  2. Pick your island season. Think about when your group can truly leave Illinois. Winter months bring the strongest contrast with New Boston, while other seasons may suit groups who want quieter days. Talk through work schedules, school breaks, and holidays with your friends, then choose a week that fits most people before you look at villa availability.
  3. Plan the week together. Once the dates are set, divide the planning. One friend can handle the villa and groceries, another the ferry and taxi, and another the day trips and dinners. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so anyone who wants to drive should plan for that. Share a simple written plan so everyone knows what to expect.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to plan the ferry ride ahead of time?

It helps to know the ferry schedule before you travel, since the crossing from Red Hook to Cruz Bay is the link between the airport side and St. John. Ask the St John Condos team for guidance on timing so your group is not rushing with luggage between connections and the ferry dock.

Can a group from New Boston split the cost of a villa?

Many groups share the weekly rental and divide the shared expenses such as groceries, taxis, and rental cars. Agree on a simple split before you book, and put the arrangement in writing. The team can explain what the villa includes so everyone understands the terms before paying.
