Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Manchester, Iowa
St John Condos can help families from Manchester, Iowa, plan a villa stay at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, answering questions before you book.
For a family from Manchester, a trip to St. John can feel like a big step, especially if the children have never seen the ocean up close. Manchester sits in the heart of Iowa, where winters are cold and the landscape is flat and open. A villa at the Westin St John Resort offers a different kind of week, with warm water, shade, and room for everyone to spread out and unwind together. Most visitors reach the island by flying into St. Thomas, the airport code STT, then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Once you arrive, remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth knowing before you take the wheel. Villas are rented by the week, so your family can settle in and let the days take their own shape.

Planning a family trip from Manchester
- Getting to the island. Most families from Manchester fly into St. Thomas, the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a few bags per person and keep the children's essentials in a carry-on, since the connections can be long. Our team can talk through the sequence with you so nothing feels like a surprise on arrival day.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Manchester winters are cold, so many families plan their trip for the coldest part of the year, when a warm beach feels especially welcome. Think about school calendars, work schedules, and the weather back home before you settle on dates. Traveling during the quieter parts of the season can also make the family's days feel more relaxed, so ask us which weeks suit your household best.
- Planning the stay. A villa gives a family room to cook, rest, and gather without rushing from place to place. Decide early whether you want quiet mornings at the pool or a full day exploring the island, and build the rest around that. Because the island has winding roads and driving is on the left, it may help to pace outings with children in mind. Reach out with your questions before booking and we will help you shape the week.
