Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Laurens, Iowa
St John Condos can help families from Laurens, Iowa, plan a relaxed island vacation at the Westin St John Resort, with villas rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
Laurens sits in the heart of Iowa, where the winters are cold and the summers are warm and green. For many families, that contrast makes a trip to the Caribbean feel like a real change of pace. A villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to spread out, cook a few meals, and let the children set their own rhythm for a few days. Planning a family trip from a place like Laurens usually starts with a simple question: how do we get there without wearing everyone out? The honest answer is that most visitors fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Keeping that path in mind helps you pack sensibly and set expectations for the kids. The team at St John Condos is glad to walk through it with you.

A family plan for travelers from Laurens
- Getting to St. John. Most families from the Laurens area fly to St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Pack a bag you can carry yourself, since you will be moving between transport options with children in tow. Ask us about the ferry schedule before you travel so you can plan the day around it.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Iowa winters can be bitter, so many families choose to leave during the coldest months when school breaks line up. Think about your children's school calendar, your own work commitments, and the weather you want to escape. Shoulder seasons can feel calmer on the island too. Talk through your dates with us, and we will share what we know about the villa calendar before you commit.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits families who want a settled routine rather than a series of short stops. Decide early whether you want a kitchen for simple breakfasts, a pool area for afternoons, or a quiet spot for little ones to nap. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether you will rent a car or rely on taxis. Keep the schedule loose so everyone has time to rest.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good choice for a family from Laurens?
Often it is. A villa gives you separate space to rest, a kitchen for easy meals, and room for children to play without constant supervision. Villas are rented by the week, so you can settle in rather than repacking every few days. Tell us how many people are traveling and what your family needs, and we will help you judge whether a villa fits.
What should we know about getting around the island with kids?
Driving on St. John is on the left, which can feel unfamiliar at first, so plan on taking your time. Some families prefer taxis for the first few days and then decide whether a rental car is worth it. Think about car seats and how much gear you are carrying. Our team can share practical tips before you book so the transitions feel manageable.
