Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Janesville, Iowa
St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from Janesville, Iowa, plan a week of exploring the island, from the first flight to the last evening on the water. Ask us anything before you book.
Janesville sits in the middle of Iowa, where the land is wide and the seasons are clear. Many people who grow up there are used to long flat horizons, so the first view of St. John often feels like a change of scenery in the best sense. A week on the island gives you time to slow down, learn the rhythm of the roads and the shoreline, and see how different daily life can be. Because the island is far from the Midwest, planning matters. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Driving on St. John is on the left, which takes a little adjustment. A villa rented by the week gives you a home base, so you can plan your days around what you actually want to do rather than a crowded schedule.

Planning your week from Janesville
- Getting to St. John. Start by flying from your home airport toward St. Thomas, which is the usual arrival point for visitors to the islands. From the airport, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Keep your luggage manageable, since you will be carrying it onto the boat and along the walk to your villa. Our team can walk you through each leg before you leave Iowa.
- Choosing when to leave. Iowa winters are cold, so many travelers from Janesville plan a trip to the islands during the colder months at home. The Caribbean stays warm year round, which makes almost any season a comfortable choice for a getaway. Think about your work, school, and family calendar, then pick the week that fits. Tell us your dates and we will help you think through what to expect.
- Planning the stay. Decide early what you want from the week: quiet mornings, time on the water, or a mix of both. Renting a villa by the week means you can cook some meals, set your own pace, and come back to a place that feels like yours. Bring simple gear for the beach and for the drive. Share your plans with St John Condos and we will suggest a setup that suits your group.
