For many people in Hills, Iowa, a trip to the Virgin Islands is the kind of thing that gets talked about for years before it finally happens. Iowa sits in the middle of the country, far from any ocean, so a stay on St. John feels like a true change of scenery. The island is warm and green, with clear water and a slower pace than most of us are used to at home. Planning a splurge like this tends to involve a few careful decisions, and that is where a local team can help. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, so you can settle into a private home base instead of a standard hotel room. Ask us anything about layout, the week you pick, or how the stay fits your plans before you commit.

Planning your trip from Hills

  1. Getting to the island. Most visitors from Hills fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. It is a simple sequence, and it is worth confirming each leg with us so your arrival day runs smoothly from start to finish.
  2. Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many travelers from Hills choose the islands during the colder months back home, when the warm air feels especially welcome. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is quiet mornings, a particular season of school or work, or simply a stretch of sunshine. We can talk through the options with you.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a splurge well because you can slow down and really enjoy the place. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, so you may want to plan rides with that in mind. Bring your questions to our team, and we will help you shape a stay that feels right for you.
