Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Griswold, Iowa
St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from Griswold, Iowa, plan a week away with friends at a villa near the Westin St John Resort, and they answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends is one of the easiest trips to plan when everyone has a clear picture of the place. Travelers from Griswold, Iowa, usually come from the middle of the country, where winters are cold and the calendar fills up quickly. A week on St. John offers a different kind of break: warm weather, slower mornings, and a shared villa where everyone can settle in together. Because St. John is an island, the trip takes a bit more coordination than a drive to a lake cabin. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Once you arrive, the island rewards those who keep plans loose and let the days unfold at their own pace, especially when the group is sharing a villa rented by the week.

Planning your week from Griswold
- Getting to St. John. Most travelers from Griswold connect through a larger hub and then reach St. Thomas, where the airport is STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, and the passenger ferry runs across to Cruz Bay. Ask your group to share flight details early so arrivals line up and nobody waits alone at the dock with luggage.
- Choosing when to go. Iowa winters are cold, so many friends from Griswold choose to leave in the colder months and enjoy warm island weather. Think about school calendars, work schedules, and which dates everyone can actually keep. Settling on a window early gives your group more options for villas and makes it easier to agree on a single week.
- Planning the stay. Share a simple plan for the week: who handles groceries, how meals will work, and which days are open for beach time or quiet afternoons. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider who will be comfortable behind the wheel. The St John Condos team can answer questions about the villa before you book, so your group arrives ready.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good choice for a group of friends from Griswold?
Often it is. A villa rented by the week gives everyone shared space, a place to cook together, and room to spread out. It can also make budgeting simpler for a group, since costs are split across the stay. Ask the St John Condos team which layout suits your number of guests.
Do we need to plan the whole week before we leave Iowa?
A rough plan helps, but leaving some days open is part of the appeal. Agree on the main shared items, such as arrival day and groceries, and let the rest develop on the island. The team can answer questions about the villa and the logistics of getting there before you commit.
