Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Greenville, Illinois
St John Condos helps friends from Greenville, Illinois, plan a week together at a villa on St. John, answering questions from a local team before anyone books. Groups usually find that sharing one villa keeps the trip simple and social.
A week away with friends from Greenville is a different kind of trip than a quiet getaway. Everyone brings their own expectations about pace, meals, and how much time to spend together versus apart. Planning it well means agreeing on those things early, so the week feels relaxed rather than negotiated day by day. A shared villa gives a group room to gather in the evenings and spread out during the day. Greenville sits in the flatlands of central Illinois, where many people are used to long drives and open roads. St. John works differently. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Driving on the island is on the left, which is worth remembering before anyone takes the wheel. Knowing this ahead of time keeps the first day easy for everyone in the group.

Planning your week from Greenville
- Getting from the area. Most friends from Greenville will travel to St. Thomas, the island with the main airport, and then continue by taxi to Red Hook and the ferry to Cruz Bay. Ask the group who is comfortable with which leg of the journey, and share one itinerary so nobody is left waiting at a dock. Keep carry-on bags light, since ferry and taxi space can be tight with a full group and a lot of luggage.
- Choosing when to leave Illinois. Illinois winters are cold, so many groups from Greenville look for a week when the weather back home is at its harshest and the islands feel like a welcome change. Agree on the travel dates as a group early, because coordinating a dozen schedules takes longer than most people expect. Once the dates are set, confirm who is booking flights and who is covering the villa, so the plan does not stall.
- Planning the stay. A villa is rented by the week, which suits a group better than a string of hotel rooms. Decide together how you will split the cost, who handles groceries, and whether anyone wants a quiet morning to themselves. Write down the shared plans so they are easy to find. Contact the St John Condos team with any questions about the property before you book, and they will answer them directly.
Frequently asked questions
Is it practical for a group from Greenville to share one villa?
Yes, many groups do exactly that. A villa gives everyone a shared kitchen, a common space for meals, and separate bedrooms, which makes a week together far easier than booking rooms in several places. Talk through sleeping arrangements and shared spending before you commit, so the group starts from the same understanding.
Do we need to drive on the island?
Driving on St. John is on the left, which can feel unfamiliar if you are used to driving on the right at home. Many visitors choose to share driving among a few confident drivers in the group. Take a slow first drive, and ask the St John Condos team any questions about getting around before your trip.
