Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Germantown, Illinois
St John Condos helps friends from Germantown, Illinois, plan a week together at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, with villas that suit a group and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends from Germantown means balancing shared plans with room to do your own thing. Illinois travelers often arrive from flat, inland landscapes, so the change to a small island with clear water and a slower pace tends to feel like a real break. Many groups want a home base where everyone can gather, cook a meal together, and then retreat to a quiet corner when they need one. Planning that week well starts with agreeing on what the group actually wants from it. Some friends want early mornings on the water, while others would rather linger over breakfast and talk. A villas rental gives the group shared space and separate bedrooms, which keeps the trip relaxed. St John Condos can talk through those details with you so the plan fits the people going, not just the calendar.

Planning a week away from Germantown
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Germantown fly into St. Thomas, the airport code is STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry runs to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan to coordinate arrivals so the group reaches the ferry together, since it is easier to share a taxi and settle into the villa at the same time. Keep in mind that driving on the island is on the left, so anyone who plans to rent a car should be ready for that.
- Choosing when to leave Illinois. Germantown winters are cold, so many friends prefer to travel during the colder months when the islands feel especially welcoming. The warm climate there is a common reason groups choose to escape the Midwest chill. Talk over work schedules, school breaks, and family commitments early, and pick a window that gives everyone enough notice to book flights together without scrambling.
- Planning the stay together. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a group that wants to settle in rather than move around. Decide early who handles the shared meals, who books any day trips, and how costs will be split. Share one list of questions and send them to the St John Condos team before you book, so the whole group knows what the villa includes and what to expect on arrival.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good fit for a group of friends traveling from Germantown?
Often it is. A villa gives your group a shared living space, a kitchen for easy meals, and separate bedrooms so everyone can have some privacy. Since villas are rented by the week, the stay feels settled rather than rushed. Tell the St John Condos team how many people are coming and what you hope to do, and they can help you judge whether a villa suits your group.
How should a group from Germantown get around once on St. John?
Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which can take some getting used to. Some groups share one rental vehicle and others rely on taxis for certain outings. Decide before you arrive how you will move around together, and ask the St John Condos team about options that match your plans.
