Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Garner, Iowa
St John Condos can help friends from Garner, Iowa, plan a shared week at a villa on St. John, with a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
A week away with friends has a way of taking shape quickly, and for a group leaving Garner, Iowa, the appeal of a Caribbean island is easy to understand. Winters in the Midwest can be long and gray, so a warm stretch of sun, water, and unhurried days often feels like the right kind of reset. Many people in the region have never visited the islands at all, which makes planning feel like a fresh project for the whole group. A villa rental suits a circle of friends better than a row of separate hotel rooms. Everyone gets shared space to gather in the evenings, cook together, and keep the conversation going. Villas are rented by the week, so the stay itself becomes the plan, and the group can spend its energy on each other rather than on logistics. The Westin St John Resort sets the backdrop for that kind of easy togetherness.

Planning a week away from Garner
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Garner fly to St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan the transfer as a group so that everyone arrives close together. Once on the island, remember that driving is on the left, which is worth a quick refresher before anyone takes the wheel.
- Choosing when to leave. Iowa winters bring cold, snow, and short days, so many friends from Garner aim to travel during the coldest months back home. Talk through what matters most to the group, whether that is calm weather, quieter days, or a stretch that fits everyone's calendar. Settling on a window early gives people time to request leave and line up plans at home.
- Planning the stay. Decide early who is covering which part of the trip, such as the rental, meals, and transport on the island. Share one document where everyone can add notes and preferences. Because villas are rented by the week, agree on arrival and departure days as a group. Bring any questions to the St John Condos team before you book, and they will help you match the villa to your crowd.
