Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Essex, Iowa
St John Condos helps three generations from Essex, Iowa, plan one shared villa stay at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, so grandparents, parents, and children can enjoy the island together with room to spread out.
A trip with grandparents, parents, and children asks for more planning than a simple getaway, and families from Essex, Iowa, often find that the hardest part is matching different energy levels under one roof. Some people want slow mornings on a terrace, others want to be out exploring, and the youngest members want something entirely their own. A villa rented by the week gives everyone separate space while keeping the group together for meals and evenings. St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, which matters when you are coordinating several generations at once. Tell us who is traveling, what each person hopes to do, and how much time you want to spend side by side. We can talk through layout, accessibility, and the rhythm of a shared week, so the plan feels settled before anyone packs a bag from home in Iowa.

Getting from Essex to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT. Coordinate arrival days early so that grandparents who may tire more easily are not waiting in long lines. Build in a relaxed first evening, because a group arriving from a cold Midwest winter or a busy summer schedule will appreciate the chance to settle before the next leg.
- Taxi and ferry together. From the airport, take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep bags light and assign one adult to manage tickets so the group moves as one. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so any family member who rents a car should be ready for that before leaving the ferry dock.
- Plan the villa week. Choose your dates with the whole family in mind, weighing school calendars, grandparents' health needs, and the mild island climate that most people find comfortable year round. Ask us about bedroom arrangements so younger children and older relatives each have a quiet retreat. Pack a shared list of essentials so no one has to hunt for sunscreen or medication.
