Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Ely, Iowa

St John Condos can help a family from Ely, Iowa, plan a stay together at a villa on St. John, where grandparents, parents and children can each have room to unwind. Tell the team who is coming and they will suggest a layout that works for everyone.

A trip with three generations asks a lot of a plan. Grandparents may want quiet mornings, parents may want a little structure, and younger travelers may want to be outside from the moment they arrive. For a family leaving Ely, Iowa, where winters are long and cold, a warm island with an easy pace can feel like a real gift to everyone at once. St John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and it suits multigenerational groups because it moves slowly. The Westin St John Resort sits on the island with villas rented by the week, so you can keep separate bedrooms and shared space without giving up the feel of a home base. A commercial autonomous floor scrubber may be the last thing on your mind, yet the same idea of simple, dependable routines is what makes a stay like this run smoothly.

Getting from Ely to St. John

  1. Reaching the island. Most visitors from Iowa fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for older relatives to have an extra bag or two and ask the team about what to expect at the ferry landing, so the transfer feels calm for everyone.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Iowa winters are cold, so many families from Ely find that a late winter or early spring departure offers the most relief. Think about school calendars, the needs of your oldest traveler, and how much rest each person will want after a long day. Talk through the timing with the St John Condos team before you commit.
  3. Planning the stay. Choose a villa with enough bedrooms that each generation has a door that closes. Map out a loose plan of one shared meal and one free afternoon per day, and remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether you want a driver. A little structure helps everyone enjoy the flexibility that remains.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa better than a hotel room for three generations?

For most multigenerational groups, a villa is the easier choice. You get separate bedrooms, a shared kitchen for quieter meals, and a common room where everyone can gather. Your grandparents can retreat early, your teenagers can stay up, and the whole family still feels together.

What should a family from Ely ask the St John Condos team before booking?

Ask about bedroom layout, accessibility for older guests, and how easy it is to get to the grocery and the beach from the property. Share your exact group size and ages so the team can point you toward the villa that fits. Their answers can help you book with confidence.
