Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Ellsworth, Iowa
St John Condos can help families from Ellsworth, Iowa, plan a villa stay at the Westin St John Resort on St. John, so grandparents, parents, and children can share one unhurried week together on the island.
A family trip that spans three generations asks a lot of any plan. Grandparents may want quiet mornings, parents want a bit of structure, and children want room to explore. For travelers from Ellsworth, a villa rented by the week at the Westin St John Resort gives everyone their own space while keeping the group together. The island itself is small and easy to settle into, so the days tend to move at a gentler pace than many people expect from a trip with so many ages in it. Ellsworth sits in the heart of Iowa, where winters are cold and long, so many families here are ready for warm sunshine and a change of scenery. A commercial autonomous floor scrubber may be the last thing on your mind when you pack for the islands, but the same care for steady, dependable routines applies to planning a shared vacation. Before you book, the St John Condos team can talk through which villa layout suits your group, how to divide shared spaces, and what to expect from a stay on the island.

Planning a three-generation trip from Ellsworth
- Getting to the island. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, airport code STT, then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. With grandparents and young children in the group, it helps to plan for a few extra stops along the way and to keep bags manageable. Driving on St. John is on the left, so anyone who plans to take the wheel should keep that in mind before the trip.
- Choosing when to leave Iowa. Ellsworth winters can be harsh, so many families from Iowa choose to leave during the coldest months and enjoy the island's warm climate. Think about school calendars, the health and comfort of older relatives, and whether younger children will handle a long travel day well. Talk through these points as a group early, so that everyone feels heard and the timing suits the whole family.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives a multigenerational group room to settle in and recover from the journey. Decide early which meals you will cook together and which you will enjoy out, and agree on quiet time for those who need it. Sharing these choices with the St John Condos team before you book helps make sure the villa and the schedule fit everyone.
