Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Elizabeth, Illinois

St John Condos helps travelers from Elizabeth, Illinois, plan a week of snorkeling and beach days on St. John, with villas rented by the week at the Westin St John Resort. Our local team answers questions before you book.

Elizabeth sits in the northwestern corner of Illinois, where winters are cold and the lakes and fields stay quiet under snow for much of the year. Many travelers from a place like this find that a week of warm water and sandy shoreline feels like a real change of season. A snorkeling holiday on St. John gives you that contrast without any need to rush. Once you picture the days themselves, the planning gets simpler. You might spend mornings in clear shallow water looking at fish and coral, then spend the afternoons reading under a shade tree or walking the shoreline. A rented villas-by-the-week stay suits this kind of slow rhythm, because you can unpack once and let the days take their own shape.

Planning your snorkeling week from Elizabeth

1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Illinois fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there a taxi will take you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack for the connections, since island schedules are easygoing and it helps to arrive relaxed. Driving on St. John is on the left, so keep that in mind if you rent a car.
2. Choosing when to leave. Leaving a cold Illinois winter for the islands is a popular choice, and the warm water is inviting in any season. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is calm water, quieter beaches, or the feeling of being far from home. Our team can talk through the options with you before you commit to any dates.
3. Planning the stay. Book a villa by the week so you have room to settle in and a base for each day of snorkeling. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, a good mask and fins if you own them, and light layers for cooler evenings. Build the week around a few planned outings and leave plenty of open days, so the commercial autonomous floor scrubber of everyday life stays far behind you.
