Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Brooklyn, Illinois

St John Condos helps Brooklyn families plan a three-generation trip to St. John, where a villa at the Westin St John Resort gives grandparents, parents, and children room to share one home base. Our team answers questions before you book.

Planning a trip that brings grandparents, parents, and children together takes more thought than a simple getaway. Everyone has different needs for rest, meals, and pace, and a shared villa can make those differences easier to manage. From Brooklyn, Illinois, many families choose St. John because the island offers a calm setting where each generation can find its own rhythm during the day and still gather together in the evening. A villa rented by the week gives you private space that a hotel room rarely offers. Older relatives can have a quiet bedroom, younger children can nap without disturbing anyone, and the whole group can eat together on the terrace. St John Condos knows how these arrangements work in practice, so we can talk through room layouts, accessibility questions, and the mix of plans that suits your family before you commit to anything.

Your three-generation plan from Brooklyn

  1. Reaching the island together. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for mobility needs, luggage, and rest stops with your oldest travelers in mind. If anyone in your group uses a walker or needs extra help, tell our team early so we can point you toward the easiest options for that part of the trip.
  2. Choosing the season to travel. Illinois winters are cold, so many families from Brooklyn look forward to the warmth of the islands during the colder months. Think about school calendars, the comfort of older relatives in heat, and how much time everyone can realistically take away from work. Share those priorities with us, and we can help you weigh the timing before you settle on dates that work for all three generations.
  3. Setting up the villa stay. Once dates are set, decide together what each generation wants from the week. Some will want beach mornings, others quiet afternoons, and everyone may enjoy a shared dinner. Agree on a rough plan for meals, transportation on the left-side roads of St. John, and downtime. Then let St John Condos walk you through the villa details so your group arrives with a clear, relaxed plan.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa a good fit for a trip with grandparents and young children?

Often it is. A villa gives each generation separate space to rest while still sharing a kitchen, living area, and outdoor seating. Tell us how many bedrooms, bathrooms, and sleeping arrangements your group needs, and we can help you find a layout that keeps everyone comfortable without crowding anyone.

How should we handle getting around St. John with an older group?

Think about how far each person can comfortably walk and how often you will want to go out. Many groups plan a few planned outings and keep other days flexible. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so you may prefer a driver who feels confident doing so. Ask our team about the arrangements that suit your family.
