Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Bourbonnais, Illinois
St John Condos helps travelers from Bourbonnais, Illinois, plan a winter escape to St. John in the US Virgin Islands, where villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week. Our local team answers questions before you book.
Winter in Bourbonnais can settle in hard and stay for a long stretch. Cold air, gray skies, and short days make many people in central Illinois start dreaming about warm water and a slower pace. St. John, one of the US Virgin Islands, offers exactly that kind of change of scenery, with sunshine that feels like a different season altogether. A villa rental suits a winter escape because it gives you room to settle in rather than rush from place to place. You can cook a few meals, spend long mornings on the porch, and keep your own schedule. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and our team is glad to talk through what that kind of stay could look like before you commit to anything.

Getting from Bourbonnais to St. John
- Reaching the islands. Most visitors from Illinois fly to St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into your day, since island connections can feel unhurried, and keep your confirmation details handy for each leg of the trip.
- Timing your departure. Choosing when to leave Illinois is a matter of weighing cold winter weather against the season you prefer on the islands. Many people from Bourbonnais aim to get away once the coldest stretch hits, while others prefer to wait for spring weather at home. Think about school calendars, work commitments, and how much warmth you want, then let those points guide your dates.
- Planning the stay. Once you know your dates, consider how you want to spend your days. Villas are rented by the week, so a full week gives you time to rest, explore, and settle in. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so take that into account if you plan to get around by car. Our team can answer detailed questions before you book.
