Commercial Autonomous Floor Scrubber in Augusta, Illinois
St John Condos helps families in Augusta, Illinois, plan a calm island vacation at the Westin St John Resort, with villas rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
Planning a family trip from Augusta means balancing everyone's needs, from younger travelers who want sand and shallow water to adults who want a quiet porch and a good view. Illinois sits in the Midwest, where winters are cold and long, so many families look forward to a warm Caribbean escape. A villa gives you room to spread out, a kitchen for quick breakfasts, and space to regroup at the end of a busy day. Because the stay is rented by the week, you can settle into a routine instead of rushing from place to place. Many families from inland states find that the slower pace is the real gift, with more time for games, swimming, and simply watching the water together. Our team at St John Condos is glad to talk through what your household needs before you commit to anything.

Getting from Augusta to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Augusta fly into St. Thomas, using the airport code STT, since that is the usual gateway to the islands. From there, plan on a taxi ride to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry departs for Cruz Bay on St. John. Build a little slack into your plan so that children, luggage, and car seats do not turn the transfer into a scramble.
- Choose your season. Illinois winters are cold, so many Augusta families aim for the drier months of the year to enjoy the islands at their most comfortable. Warm weather is steady year round in the Caribbean, but school calendars and holidays usually shape the decision more than anything else. Think about your children's schedules and your own work commitments before you pick dates.
- Plan the week ahead. Once your dates are set, sketch a simple outline for the stay, including beach days, a quiet afternoon at the villa, and time for a meal out. Remember that St. John drives on the left, so it may be easier to rely on the ferry and taxis for early trips. Let the team at St John Condos know your family's ages and interests so that we can help you choose the right villa.
